Amir Omar currently serves as Council Member for the City of Richardson. He was elected to the Council representing Place 7 in 2009. He currently serves on the Methodist Richardson Medical Center Foundation Board, on the Executive Committee for the Richardson Young Professionals, and as a Chamber Ambassador.

Omar is a member of the Richardson Rotary, Friends of the Richardson Library, Richardson Chamber of Commerce, and the Metroplex Technology Business Council. He was honored and given an award by the Richardson Chamber at their annual banquet in 2009 for his volunteer efforts within the community.
